A great place to work
In 1827, James Faulkner settled in Southern Illinois prairie country and built a home for his family that would come to be known as the Little Red House.
The Faulkner home was the town tavern, general store, school house, post office, church and a welcoming gathering place for folks from near and far.
Over the next decade, the tiny settlement became a thriving town and in 1837 it was officially named Jerseyville.
Hardy farmers and adventurous pioneers found fertile soil, beautiful vistas and wide rivers to transport their goods. Hard-working and industrious, they built up a town of friendly neighbors and family farms that helped feed a growing nation.
Today, Harvest Home celebrates the traditions established by those early settlers—good prairie home cooking and a friendly country welcome for our neighbors from down the street and around the world.
